I everyone!

This agenda covers only the second half of the month for the simple reason that I was on vacation and that January does not offer us so many interesting shows to see (contrary to February that will be amazing…). However, here are some events that really deserve to be considered by all music lovers…

//Jan14: ZN’SHÑ Live from 6pm to 8pm at Mudam ( “…the term Zn’shñ means: the gleam of dark colours (especially those of night liquids and polished stones). Deliberately antithetic and intentionally enigmatic, Zn’shñ is influenced by Butoh iconography, Japanese Gagaku aesthetics and the codification of Tibetan rituals.”)// Indie Pop/Lounge Music from Island at Exit07: Hjaltalin + Thorunn (and the best: it’s free!!)

//Jan 16 at Exit07, Terrific electronic music by Nathan Fake (+++) and his laptop live show. Probably the best show of the month for electronic lovers.

//Jan 20: Blind Test at Dqliq. Rules of the game have changed recently so as to allow everybody to play longer…much more fun now // Rockhalicious (rockhal): Sheeduz (free showcase!!) 3 very sexy girls playing good rock (I mean I have been told it’s good)…4 reasons to go…Unfortunately I’ll not be able to attend the show (what a pitty! I would have really liked to catch them in my sketch book) so please go and tell me how it was. 

//Jan 22: Bingo Sonore at Exit07 with FRED NEUEN and MAX HOCHMUTH

//Jan 23: Kaiser chiefs at Rockhal…maybe the only band of the month I do not need to present as, I believe, everybody knows them… // Experimental/Pop/Ambient music at Exit07 with Mugison (+++)…I did not know this artist but from what I’ve heard so far it is quite impressive…I believe the chances to have very very good music there are very very high…

//Jan 30: A lot of things to do: my heart goes to Dqliq and its Electric Feel Festival with, among others, the very good electronic duo Pitchtuner (germany/Japan) and the Bud Spencers//There is also an attractive be my Guest at EXIT07 with Abigail Shark, Casador and Paul & Louise//Finally the very good Don Simon plays at verso.

//Jan 31: Again 2 interesting things to do: Second day of the Electric feel Festival at Dqliq, UK indie music this time with the Winterkids(+++)// The not to be missed Hauschka (+++)and his magic experimental piano music at Exit07. I saw him a couple of years ago in Saint Malo and he offered us an amazing show on the beach. My advice is clearly to go first to Exit07 and then to Dqliq … in my dreams Dqliq and Exit07 would arrange for the 2 artists not to play at the same time.

//Conclusion: Not enough indie this month (only one band, the Winterkids), good experimental electronic/music (thanks to Exit07!), nothing at den atelier (!!!) or at Kulturfabrik (except for a Metal fair on the 18^th J …I didn’t know such a fair could even exist!!! I am curious…maybe I could find some interesting characters to draw there or a nice Iron Maiden vintage t-shirt…yes it’s a shame, I love Iron Maiden designs…)…

//Dec 5: MODE SELEKTOR (support ARTABAN and aftershow by MIYAGI & KARATEKID ) at Exit07 (For those who want the best of electronic music)// MUD SELEKTOR at Dqliq (For those who prefer the best of library music and cosmo grooves from the 60’s to the 80’s) CARLOS WAS TOTALLY DRUNK AND ENJOYED A LOT BEING KARATEKID!

//Dec 6: CAMILLE at Den Atelier (but I don’t think I’ll go) and KRISS-KROSS Party at Dqliq, CARLOS DIDN’T GO OUT AND PLAYED WII INSTEAD (NOW ADDICTED TO DANCING DISCO WITH THE CRAZY RABBITS …)

//Dec 7: JAMIE LIDELL at Rockhal (“Over the soul funk traces of Multiply, the black voice from Jamie’s white mouth has an absolute ball at the microphone, naturally. With a disconcerting facility he transforms funk into pop music, stringing together hits like pearls”…This is not written by me but it is true!)…clearly one of the most awaited show of the year.CARLOS SAYS HE HAS NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW GOOD AND FUNKY THIS SHOW WAS!

//Dec 9: QUITZOW and SETTING SUN at Dqliq (US indie to be discovered, and guess what? IT’S FREE!) CANCELLED! SETTING SUN WILL PLAY ON THE 10th

//Dec 10: PORT O’ BRIEN at Dqliq (again a wonderful indie band from the US. As Dqliq says, “ THIS IS THE LAST CHANCE TO SEE THIS GREAT BAND IN A SMALL VENUE”, so no excuse not to go. NEW SUPPORT BAND: SETTING SUN!

//Dec 11: SIR SIMON BATTLE at Verso (for what I heard, it sounds quite promising). BINGO SONORE special Architecture at EXIT07

//Dec 12: RATATAT (support JOANNA and EMILE) at Exit..after there’s also CASSIUS at the Red Club (but only after as Exit should be much more fun…)

//Dec 13: TINDERSTICKS at Rockhal, at least just for the amazing voice of Stuart Staples

//Dec 17: LUXURIANT TOY CLUB PARTY with THE SHOPPINGS (not to be missed!) at Verso…Don’t forget to bring a toy (I mean a real toy, for kids, not those you might play with at night…) or you’ll not get in!

//Dec 18: LAURENT GARNIER at Melusina (but why the fuck a Thursday???), but before that go to Dqliq and listen to LOCAS IN LOVE for a very good pop sound appetizer.
